We Demand an Inquiry Into Long Term Care Inspectors

Old Man in Wheelchair

What has happened in Ontario’s long-term care homes is reprehensible. At the moment Canada has one of the worst track records in long-term care COVID-19 related deaths world-wide, with Ontario lagging far behind many of our fellow provinces. This has been the case for many years.
We demand answers. We need to stand united and demand justice for our seniors. Will you stand with us and support an independent inquiry into long-term care inspectors?

The most devastating aspect of COVID-19 tearing through long-term care homes is that it didn’t have to be this way. Ontario Long-Term Care Minister, Dr Merrilee Fullerton says the province has 175 nursing home inspectors. This raises the question, how did none of them apparently know about these problems, and why did it take military medical teams to blow the whistle. We demand an answer.

The Liberals spent years sweeping issues under the rug and shutting down calls for a thorough inquiry. When the crisis hit, it was already too late for the government to do anything to stop this from happening. The political leaders of this province have failed Ontario’s seniors for decades.

We need accountability and responsibility now more than ever. We demand answers now before this is buried in the din of calls for more government. Now is not the time to turn a blind eye to the complicity of the Ontario government in every single issue within our nursing homes.

Please add your voice to the call for an independent public inquiry into the Long Term Care inspectors. Together we will fight for the lives we can still save, and we will fight for a long-term care system that protects our most vulnerable.

Thank you for being a part of this change.
