All people, being owners of themselves, and thus having ultimate claim upon their own lives, are endowed by nature with the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and estate.  In defense of these rights, man has instituted government amongst itself.  When government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the duty of all people to alter or abolish it.

I am Andrew Allison, a student and activist for liberty.

I am running for MPP of Waterloo to protect individuals from the overreaches of government that have become the staples of policy of the demagoguing political leaders of Ontario.  Other parties continue to promise that government, not free individuals, solve the problems of Ontarians while they have repeatedly caused injury rather than relief.  The Ontario Libertarian Party, however, believes that when left to our own devices, held only to the duty to respect others’ rights, Ontarians will achieve outcomes which are much more favourable than any government agency could produce.  When government meddles in affairs beyond its legitimate purpose, Ontarians are victimized by its mismanagement and bureaucracy.

Below are select areas in which the provincial government affects the lives of Ontarians.

On Debt

The Government of Ontario has continued to take on debt in order to pay for its seemingly endless list of programs, entitlements, corporate grants, and the like.  Of the provincial budget, over 8% is dedicated strictly to paying interest on debt which the state has already accumulated.  I will not stand idly by while we burden future generations with our own poor spending habits.  When I am long gone and forgotten, I should pray that my grandchild not pay for the sins of their father or his father before him.

The Ontario Libertarian Party will balance the provincial budget immediately and we will create a debt repayment plan that will span 30 years.  In this way, future Ontarians will not see the same burden of debt which our generation has unjustly had to bear.  Now is the time to act with responsible spending and active debt repayment while maintaining a balanced budget.

On Taxes

All people possessing property that has been justly acquired have a right to its defense.  In the perversion of justice, which we have been given by statesmen of centuries ago, the theft of this property by the state has been written into law and as such, no person can, today, feel secure in their possessions.  No matter how altruistic the intended use of the property which has been looted is, no matter the legitimacy of the legislators who use force to acquire this property, taxation remains an injustice to the individual, who, through their own labour and mutually agreed upon contracts, has justly acquired that which is proper to them.

Upon election, we will eliminate the Corporate Income Tax.  This proper limitation to the extent of government intervention will allow more jobs to be created and be one step towards Ontario becoming the economic super-power that it has the potential to be.

On Property

The use of justly acquired property should be decided entirely by the property owner barring uses which infringe upon the rights of others.  It is not the duty of the paternalistic state to decide how an individual will use their own property.

In office, the Ontario Libertarian Party will not allow government agencies to have jurisdiction over privately owned property.  Business owners will have the freedom, should they choose, to allow patrons to smoke in their bar or restaurant.  Homeowners will have the freedom, should they choose, to build off-grid solar installations without restriction.  These decisions should be left in the hands of property owners, not the politicians in Queen’s Park.

Thank You

It is my great privilege to represent the Ontario Libertarian Party in their pursuit of liberty for all Ontarians.  Thank you for hearing our message.  I will continue to fight for the rights of life, liberty, and estate, which, regardless of their legal status, are natural and innate to all people.

Biography

Keith is a single father of 2 originally from Cranbrook B.C. His mother is a Saskatchewan farm girl who can trace her lineage back to the late 1600s early 1700s to a town called Greenlay, Quebec. His father is an immigrant who managed to escape from Yugoslavia in the 1950s, only to be thrown in jail for deserting his country. Upon his release, he swam the Danube River into Austria and eventually made his way to Canada. This gives Keith both a Canadian heritage and an immigrant background giving him a unique perspective on some of today's more important topics dealing with immigration.

Showing the same toughness as his father, Keith turned down a scholarship to Waterloo in Mathematics and chose instead to become a bricklayer. He is an activist for many causes and has supported marriage equality since the early 1990s when his brother and his partner were one of the first same-sex couples to marry at the United Church in Toronto in 1992. Keith’s activism for the Cannabis industry began in 2015 when he was in Calgary and Dana Larsen got arrested for handing out seeds. Keith was at the front line demanding they arrest him as well. In 2016, Keith warned against the impending Cannabis Act and the "man behind the curtain", so to speak, that would eventually lead to the problems we are seeing today with the poorly executed legalization of cannabis in Canada. Keith is still fighting for the decriminalization of cannabis and spoke at the 420 Rally for cannabis freedom in Vancouver in 2017  and Toronto in 2019. He will continue to fight until cannabis is decriminalized. Keith is a staunch supporter of property rights and freedom of speech.

Keith discovered Libertarianism in 2008 while following the U.S. election. He was immediately captivated by Dr. Paul and his unapologetic stances on property rights and personal freedoms. Keith is well-read on many topics, has read all of Ayn Rand's books, and is a follower of Milton Friedman and Frederick Hayek. In September 2015 Keith found Tim Moen and the Libertarian Party of Canada and supported the local candidate in Grand Prairie for the 2015 election. In 2016, Keith became involved with the BC Libertarian Party and helped grow its membership and candidate numbers for the 2017 provincial election. Keith himself garnered the 2nd highest percentage of votes for the Party in that election (2.5%) and the 3rd highest vote total (410). In 2018 Keith moved back to Ontario and became involved with the Ontario Libertarian Party where he is currently running for Party Leader. Keith represented the Libertarian Party of Canada in the York-Simcoe riding in Barrie during the 2019 federal by-election, and will run there again in October for the general election.

Why am I running?

I have decided to run in this election after 30 years of promises by the big 3 parties and not delivering on those promises.  I voted Conservative all my life and realized about 4 yrs ago, my vote did not count. For me, the simple reality was that the current parties no longer have your needs in mind. For the big parties, it seems to be a game of power and somewhere along the line, we the voters have gotten lost in that democratic process.

A power struggle exists between the taxpayer and the power of the politician.  Each election period and in between, more and more of our tax dollars have been taken from us, with less and less services being provided.  The ever-present growth in government and regulations have strangled the innovation and business sectors in Ontario.  The constant attacks on taxpayers must stop and government needs to be controlled, by the people.

Ontario went from the Engine of Canada (2003), to needing transfer payments and have lost our way as the business leader of Canada.

I found the Ontario Libertarian Party in 2015, right off the bat, the principles of the Party struck a nerve with me.  It spoke to me right away about the problem of government being over reaching into individuals lives.  The more I considered that reach, the more I learned how much we as Parents and receivers of government services is wasted on bureaucracy which is taking away from services.  It is that rationing of every government service that is wrong.

We pay taxes, fees, and we expect those taxes/fees to be used wisely.  This is not occurring and needs to be fixed. The big 3 parties are not interested in that, they are out there trying to buy your vote with your own Tax Dollars and it is wrong.

The people of Ontario should control those tax dollars, and with that, then they will control all government service with choice.  That choice and control over your tax dollars will then put you, the taxpayer in charge.  We will do what no politician can ever do, give you control of your government controlled services.  That is true power, that is true democracy, that can and should be the power of the people over government.

When this occurs, then you (the people) control the government and the government only becomes a guide to the people’s choices.
