OLP Convention in Bowmanville this November

You are invited to the 2024 OLP Convention on Saturday, November 23rd from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. It will be held in person at the Bowmanville Older Adult Association. There is also a virtual option at a reduced price. All Executive positions will be up for election as well as some of the Ethics Committee positions.

Membership Eligibility

A Delegate to the Convention must have been a Member of the Party for at least 90 days prior to the commencement of a Convention or General Meeting. However, this year with the delay due to technical issues on our website, the Executive Committee voted to reduce the eligibility period from 90 days to 30 days. If you are not currently a member and would like to run for a position or vote at the Convention, please sign up for a membership by Thursday, October 24th and pay via eTransfer.

A reinstated Member shall be deemed as having a continuous membership for purposes of this section. To run for a position you must be a current member as at November 23rd2024 or renew your lapsed membership by the start of the convention.

If you are interested in running for a position send an email to campaign@libertarian.on.ca indicating your intent. NOTE: Leadership nominees must also complete forms from Elections Ontario.

Call for Motions

The convention is also an opportunity for members to present motions for updates to the By-Laws and Constitution. Review the documents and propose any changes to deputy.leader@libertarian.on.ca by Sunday, October 20th .

 

Tentative Agenda:

8:30 - 9:30 am - Registration and Continental Breakfast

9:30 -10:00 am - Welcome, Leader's Report (Mark Snow), Treasurer's Report (Jim McIntosh)

10:00 -11:00 am - Speaker: Scott Cordier (CFP, CLU) will explain the benefits of the Infinite Banking Canada Group (IBC) and how you can avoid taxes on your savings and investments.

11:00 -11:15 am - Break

11:15 -12:00 pm - Leader's Debate (TBD)

12:00 pm - Lunch

1:00 - 2:00 pm - Nominations and Elections for all positions on Executive

2:00 - 4:00 pm - Other Business (Motions to change the Constitution and Bylaws, other topics TBD)
